Going to check out an Electron Blue C5 Z06 this weekend, and if VW ever stops being genuinely awful and just send me my offer and but the car back, plan on trying to strike a deal.

In about a year I’ll want out of my F150 and I’m on the fence with a Gladiator or a Tundra.

Cars I’m seriously considering right now:
New/lease return Crosstrek
New/lease return Wrangler

I mean always, but I guess the strongest want currently:
RR Classic

one for a long time and they’ve of course become “popular” in the right circles which means they’re appreciating out of what I’d really consider
spending

I feel like you'll get bored with a Crosstrek. And jeeps are dumb. You should get a defender.

About $5K more than my desired budget but still
Destroyer Gray is my absolute favorite though but this is $33.5 K and I would never buy any car at that price, especially used.

Millennium Yellow is better, but the miles and mods are right on this one. Price, not so much, but after talking with them, they dropped that it had been around for a while and it’s not their typical car.

Right now its either a 7.3L Excursion or a 6 Speed Cayenne for used, 2020 Explorer or Ranger for new

Hmm, defender might be outside the car allowance.
I like Jeeps personally... I think 4Runners are way too big. I want something 2 door and 4wd.
I would probably be bored in a Crosstrek, but for an adjusters car where I drive an equal mix of rural/urban, it seems like a good compromise . AWD for snow and dirt roads, android auto and backup camera for downtown Vancouver.

No joke my girlfriend wants to track down a Scion IQ. She hates long hoods and complicated dash layouts and wants something in a fun color. Also she hates the brake feel of a honda fit.

Tired of Cruze and it’s headaches. I’ll be officially mid-30's this year, so I’ve decided that it’s high time I grow up and get a sensible mid-30's, N orthern V irginia, White collar appropriate car...
I’m looking for a used (2015ish, <50k ) BMW 335i, RWD, 6 speed manual. I don’t care about much beyond that. Though I’d prefer blue.

I have 2 kids. My wife wants 3 kids. My current daily is an Audi A4.
Realistically, the A4 is just fine (really, it’s ok, sure) and I could likely make it accommodate 3 kids under 5 years of age.
Things I think about
Jeep Grand Cherokee (had a Wk2, definitely would Wk2 again, buy, any 2015 and up )
Ford Escape (new, lease)
Toyota Rav4 (new, lease)
Honda CRV (New, lease)
Chevy Bolt (new, lease/buy )
Tesla 3 (new, buy/buy )
Porsche Cayenne GTS (early, buy )
Porsche Cayenne V6 (Later, buy )
BMW 7-series (F01, buy )
Audi Q5 (?)
Audi Q7 (?)
Dodge Charger 392 (?)
Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody (yeeah...no)
...Whatever F150 lease special falls in my lap...
I’m a mess.

I’m doing my eternal debate of trading in my truck for a newer 4x4 and a cheap fun car, or keep my paid-off land cruiser and get a newer sports sedan for commuting/fun.
For 4wd: Late year, 1st gen Titan Pro-4x, new Nissan Armada, LR4, 200 series cruiser, etc.
For Car: B8.5 Audi S4 manual or Alfa Guilia TI Sport.
I figure i could get into either for under $30k, although the 200 series would be tough. There’s actually a perfect 2015 S4 at a dealer by my house for $28k and a 2017 Alfa by my dad’s house for the same price.

Actively shopping for a BRZ. Might buy one this weekend
![]() 03/13/2019 at 16:57 |

I’m first-car shopping so I’m looking at a 2013 Fit Sport MT , 2015 Accord Sport MT, a blue 2010s Mazda2 (blame E90M3 for that one), I guess a manual Civic too, a 2013 Ac ura TSX, AIM’s Volvo brick if he ever decides to sell it, and a bunch more.

The irony isn’t lost on me.
Though if I’m being honest, it’s probably not going to happen. I wouldn’t be in a position to buy until end of the year at the earliest, and by then I’ll have probably changed my mind at least 5 times. That’s just what’s tickling my fancy at the moment.
Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t see the BMW being significantly worse than the Cruze. And it will be fun (when it runs) so there’s that.

Electron blue is also beautiful.
I also really love the notch-back Z06 roof line vs. the standard fastback look. If I were to ever get a C5 it would have to be a Z06.

Seems like the Cruze really lowered the bar for your automotive standards/expectations. At least with the BMW you can break down in comfort
![]() 03/13/2019 at 17:03 |

I actually prefer the hatch, but everything I've read says just get the Z06.

Add a GMC Terrain or Arcadia to your list of family SUVs. I think they’re at least worth a look. We got a 2018 Terrain Denali and I love it.

I actually put in an inquiry about a used G550 for sale in an odd spec (Mauritius blue, night package, carbon fiber trim) . It sold hours before I made contact.

Yeah, from what I understand it’s better everything - brakes, suspension, 30 to 50 more HP stock (depending on year) .

Its a great blend of sporty and business. Not to mention I’m a sucker for the supercharger and you can get it in a manual. There’s a 2010 on CL by my with 63k miles for $20k. Considering the driveline didn’t really change over the production period, that’s tempting.

Life goal: build the “Tsunami” (I made up the name).
I always thought GM really missed an opportunity with the Syclone and Typhoon by not making a Safari van variant since the Safari’s already had the same drivetrain (4.3L V6, AWD). Just need to find one and lower it, turbo it, swap on Sy/Ty wheels, and maybe a tasteful body kit.

Some are things I want as project cars. Things that I want to spend time on, but are a long way out due to presence of other projects. That would include a ‘48-’50 Packard, a ‘48 Hudson, a ‘42 DeSoto, a ‘50 Studebaker Business Coupe, a ‘70s Matra Rancho,
and a ‘67 Rambler Marlin. All would likely require fabricating parts, unorthodox replacements, hard bodywork, and so on.
Then there are things that I would kind of want, but with a “running and in okay shape
” caveat. So, might be less far off, oddly enough. Things like a ‘67 Mercury Cougar, Nash Metropolitan, ‘73 Corvette...

Oh, I know. I keep an ever- watching eye on them. B7s too even if it is a maintenance nightmare... but aren’t they all? I think I would need a warranty, where do you fall on that?
![]() 03/13/2019 at 17:26 |

Tsunami would be a great name for that. I could get on board with one of those, although my future likely holds a RWD converted 2nd gen Caravan/Voyager at some point.......

1988-1994 Lincoln Town Car Cartier
1998-19 99 Cadillac DeVille D’Elegance WITH factory sunroof, CD, and some kind of roof treatment.

1987-89 BMW 735i 5-speed

I like the V8 cars, but for resale and reliability, i would aim for a RS4. They certainly cost more, but they don’t have the timing chain issues the regular ones did. They do have their own problems though.

It was worth a shot...
And I forgot, you’re looking for your first ride. Pro tip... don’t get a Cobalt or Cruze.
Actually I really, really, really liked my Cruze when I first got it. It’s by far GM’s best modern compact car, and I think it compared well with it’s contemporaries. But long term reliability has been... problematic.

Honestly, I think the best thing to do would be to nab an M2 and switch to a GT4 later since (me speculating) they have another $20,000 to drop over the next 3-4 years before holding and appreciating back up to MSRP.

I want a 16-17 Mustang
I’d also like an aluminum F150
I’d also take a current gen ES350 F Sport or new Camry or Avalon as a daily driver.
Supercar wise I’d love a first gen R8. I’ve loved those since I say Iron Man when I was in middle school.
Depending on what the new Bronco looks like I’d take one of those too.
As for classics I like the Volvo Amazon a lot. Particularly the wagons.
I’d also take an M3 or an M5 if I didn’t have to pay for it or maintenance/repair.
I’m in college so none of this will happen anytime soon and I want to be a social worker so none of it is likely to happen later either. I’ll probably be running my $5000 2011 Camry into the ground and then some for the foreseeable future.

I’m about a year to 18 months from buying another ride. My wants currently range from a 2010-2013 Lexus GX460 (base model for simpler electronics, also 2014+ got the nasty predator face), 2006-2009 Toyota 4Runner V8, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel or 5.7 Hemi if used.
I’d love a new Wrangler if I bought new, but I can’t bring myself to pay $50k+ for one.
We have a house to sell and another one to build before I upgrade from my 2004 Pathfinder (bought it last year with 108k miles from original owner), so the final cost on all of that will determine which route I go!
